Audacious on this plate,
All whimsy and color.
Blending the peculiar into convention,
As though they've always belonged
Under that cup of sugary sweet.
I eagerly present you to the world,
Though you won't fit their sterile form.
There is no conformity in you.
Renew them instead,
Nourish and sustain them.
Let your colors set their day.

Today I am giving up purple for Lent. Can't have whimsical hues unless it's on vestments, and then it's violet, cos that's a more serious colour.
I would also give up sugar, but if I did that I'd probably feel like giving up coffee, and then the world would not be a safe place anymore. All those frying pans, free of pancakes for the next 40 days, would make perfectly good weapons.
I do like non-conformity. I try to shop there whenever I can, but the cashiers have unusual piercings and one is a duck.

I always liked the purple..ahem, violet...vestments best. If only we could get them in a duck size for the non-conforming clerks. Cheers to accurately purposed fry pans and obscene levels of sugar and caffeine.
