Riddles

Try to answer. Then write your own.

Not sails or masts, not grog or wind
But still a riddling sailor's friend.
And while a fast friend's found at shore
A fast ship's said to sail at more.

And you can say that some are good
Though often not when found in wood.
And you can say that some are fair
Though often not when found in hair.

What not is not a certain name;
a slip, a mother's mother.
Tied and bound, a lover's game,
creeping weed, a rocks another.

This is a long shot, but I was thinking ‘Myrtle’ for Tom’s riddle:

-It was really my grandmother’s name (my Mom's Mom)

-There is a creeping plant form

-Myrtle Beach has boat slips  Tongue

-There is a ‘Myrtle Rocks’ Regional Park.

However, I am not sure about the bondage game.  Huh

I will try to come up with my own poetic riddle!

This diminutive tyke
never learned to ride a bike.
He was reared in a New York borough,
but took a one way furlough,
packing only heavy metal
(extremely elemental).

The Manhattan project

More specifically, the atom bomb itself, which was code-named ‘Little Boy.’  Yes, he was born of the Manhattan Project and delivered a uranium payload to Hiroshima.

Yes. I wanted to look cool while I answered.

Reynard runs, reynard runs
on horses lords give chase.
The hounds catch scent in undergrowth
and track him to this place.

Back at court with lady Aisley
maids are talking dresses.
Lady Aisley takes a break
to tend her teeth and tresses.

Thinking out loud, the Lady would probably tend her teeth and tresses with a ‘brush.’ Chased foxes go to ground in a hole, but perhaps they seek shelter in the ‘brush’ as well.

Ha, I was stuck on groom, no wonder I couldn't get the undergrowth line.

The Unsatisfying Gift

The artisans that craft these
have no need of them.

They sell them to customers
that have no use for them.

Their ultimate consumers
never appreciate them.

You can count on your family
getting you one of them.
