For about three or four times previous, this was right after NaPM, so I'll continue that "grand tradition" as a sort of palette cleanser. The very first one was apparently about pets -- so whose pet died that it suddenly went to this? xD but also D:
It is now time for the "7th Annual Poems About Suicide Month" at The Pigpen, where we ask you to FIGURATIVELY slice a vein and pour out your depression onto paper (or make it up as that's what writers do).
Use this thread as your cathartic release.
*Scratch that historical note, the pets one was this year xD. So where's the very first one?
That said, rewriting history is fun....so whose pet would we take to have died? xD

Choice
An occurence,
an impulse; instanteneous.
No reason to,
it just happens.
No need to think,
No need to be sorry;
it just happens.
Something to peer down at in horror?
No, you can go about your day
around the corpse.
It was just a choice.
Whether on a happy day or a sad day
a bullet goes through just the same,
not delivered by emotion, but by impulse.
All it was was a choice.
Anyways, goodbye.

Seems like it would be easier to kill myself
than write a poem about suicide.
Had a blank bit of paper for a few days,
then wrote something about a bridge.
I'll continue to roll my rock up the hill
until I can come up with my suicide poem.
It should be my expert subject.
Sisyphus, Steppenwolf - anyone? Discussion?
When I was a teen I thought I was the Steppenwolf.
Now I'm middle aged I'm shit scared to read that book,
I looked for it yesterday in the 2nd hand book shop
but it wasn't there which means it's not time to read it again.
I'm scared that it might kill me or bring enlightenment.
Same thing really.

When I was about 14 my favorite older sister came to the house (she was long gone from the family house) and tossed a copy of Steppenwolf in my lap and told me I should read it. Changed my life. In a good way. Not sure why you should be afraid to read it now; the Steppenwolf ended up finding the secret of joy.
I do remember and always will the section where he discusses setting a date (age 50, as I remember it) when he would decide whether or not to commit suicide. Of course, instead he stumbled into the Magic Theater. If I remember right.

My friend who has been in and out of 'grippy sock vacation' is sick of therapists, they always tell her to go back to school.

I will come back with a more serious one.

Probably my favorite suicide poem to date.

Seven Arguments Against Suicide
Twilight drifts,
a clock that floats on distant darkness
where thunderheads mark the horizon.
Behind curtains
rain falls across faceless denizens
of a mechanical sea, its inlets carved
into saurian paths.
Each moment glides past the lens
sealing lips with miscounted sighs.
A broken fisherman
hums inside the wind-up toys
left between this step and the next.
Knifed messages
centered without reason in lunar ecstasies
dance into hailstones that crave existence.
Wordlessly drowned
we toss our last coins in unnumbered lies
to train the wild beasts to spell out
what was written.
Seven is the only candle left to us.
It flickers into night’s last shadow.

his note read "then"
where it should have read "than"
and "their" where it should have read "they're"
but the bits of brain
and bone on the bed
were blissfully unaware

New favorite suicide poem. I hope there is improper grammer on my gravestone as well.

Wasn't really inspired by you until I was deciding on a title. But ya, the title was thanks to you.

Awful. All of it. Just the worst poem ever written, since the last one you wrote. Have you tried coding?*

You are a funny man.
Anyways, return to the suicide of it all.
Bad dream
Loose-footed shamble
down blue triangular planes;
sedated and obtuse.
Head draining of colors.
Hijacked by an angel,
hurdling over an angle,
drowning in the colors;
silent and irradiated.
Scream caught in a jar
escaped its containment:
burning up
in the atmosphere.

You're poems are actually really good. You are just so ubiquitous on here, you and Rowens need a bit of needling. x

Fix
Living’s an addiction
abusing a prescription
written for a person
I got over long ago.
Now each day I get up
drink up coffee, one cup
breathe in air I cough on
eat what YouTube pushes.
Gotta have a next fix
money for a few kicks
looking for a new sun
scared of withdrawal, but
you know, I think I’ll just go
cold turkey tomorrow, bro.

Last year there was a huge hullabaloo over how to talk about suicide, and I think this is a real grey area for humor and respect, it's serious and absurd. And I think semicircle would be the most likely here to sewer slide from a red lettering...

It's over now,
sweetheart.
Your father and I
decided to go together.
You'll find the front door unlocked
and detailed instructions
on the kitchen counter.
Do not go
into the garage
until you're sure you're ready.
And please,
be happy for us.
