That dragonfly over that pool

He’s fallen in love. With a shade

twists and turns. In erotic display,
hinting of arrogance, love

the reflection, intent attention
hinting of arrogance. Love
of self can reflect new dimensions.

Questions? Can I write/post a poem as soon as the topic post appears or do I need to wait

< Your sins can be forgiven >
God is the creator
God loves you
God is perfect
God created you in his own image
God created you to love Him
You are not perfect
You sin
You fall short of His glory
Sin separates you from God
Separation from Him means death
Jesus came to save you from death
Jesus came to pay the penalty for your sins
You can have eternal life
Your sins can be forgiven

Fooled Again
She thought she'd catch me unaware
and give to me, a little scare,
just like she'd done, the last three years
on April Fools, on April Fools!
And so this year I wrote it down,
to save myself, her ploy'll be found
then this year she'll not confound
on April Fools, on April Fools!
The daily haze dropped down on me
and 'fore too long I had to pee,
and when I did, what did I see,
on April Fools, on April Fools!
I saw a snake there at my feet,
it made me fear, it made me meek,
I turned midstream, away I streaked,
on April Fools, on April Fools!
She brought to me the rubber snake,
but in my boots I still did shake,
A fear to me I'd ever quake
on April Fools, on April Fools!
This seems the worst it's ever been,
I'd kick her out, but she's just ten,
I swear she'll not get me again,
on April Fools, on April Fools!

Thanks for running this again milo.
To those who have not given this a try before, I would say give it a go - don't worry about producing a polished poem. If it helps, just think of these as poem starters that you can come back to. I have not written anything new for over six months and today I wrote something, so i am really greatful for the prompt and the kick start.
Here goes day one!
You tricked me with smoke covered glass surfaces;
the fiery sea glowed blue and cool. You prophesied
a self testimony, dreamed up a passion
and painted a portal into my innermost sanctuary;
but every word was a well laid trap,
lies upon lies behind which you could hide.
Shaken and tumbled by your weighty insistence,
I surrendered my precious, virgin mount.
The curtain of my youth was ripped aside;
peace that once rivered through these doors,
was turned to blood, at the touch of a swine flesh.
My love was just a bus stop conquest.
Nice pantoume Mercedes. This poem about really suited the theme for the day and the image. Beautiful images.

Long time waiting.
i never meant to kill your cat
with poisoned treats and sweetened spratt
or hit your dog upon the head
the hammer slipped and now it's dead.
the pony too, what can i say
i fed it rotten apples; neigh!
they all remind me in some way
how long it took to simply say

Everyone's a liar. Everything's a lie.
If only I remembered, I could answer them all
but I don't; I ask, I get answers
from other people and who knows
if what they say to me is true or not.
Everyone's a saint. Everything's the truth.
I thought that at first; it crumbled soon enough
when these truths clashed. Why couldn't they be the same?
Or, maybe, I was happy the illusion failed.
At least there was one truth I knew:
the lies.
There must be a truth beneath them;
I wouldn't know. If only I could recall -
but I don't. It's a past that's already slipped away,
already gone. If I ask another person they'll just tell
another lie. Or maybe not. There's no way I can say.
Maybe, since it's the past, it doesn't even matter either way.
When it finally snows here, I'll catch a snowflake and put it in the fridge.

I Cannot Tell a Lie
Leave the cherry blossoms to the wind
for the tree is not truly fallen;
its roots reach into our hearts.
Read my lips: no new taxes
will be needed to replant.
I would never use any weapon
of mass destruction to have sexual relations
with that woman.
The glint off the ground
is not a crescent blade,
but a trick of the light—
nothing more.
The secret of poetry is cruelty.--Jon Anderson

I’ll play the fool
I’ll play the fool again for you
if a jester is what you need.
It’s who I am. It’s what I do
when you can’t see that I’m in view.
By choice, perchance by common greed,
I’ll play the fool again for you.
When Cinderella lost her shoe
I cobbled one from gopher tree,
It’s who I am. It’s what I do—
sow the many, and hope a few
find purchase in this soil for seed.
I’ll play the fool again for you
and watch your one-plus-one-make-two,
if that is how you choose to breed.
It’s who I am. It’s what I do
when I'm convinced your garden's due
to flower past this stubborn weed.
I’ll play the fool again for you
It’s who I am. It’s what I do.
Phew. Day 1 and I'm spent. Loved all the contributions so far. GL everyone.

The Lion and the Fox an Aesop's Fable
Noble Lion once was served by fox
and lazy Fox was much too smart to hunt
so from a tree he hung a wooden box
then slyly asked for Lion to bait the stunt.
"Invite the Ass to join your royal clan.
When he arrives, I'll trap him. We'll be fed!"
And so they did and all went like the plan
"Now guard him, but don't touch," the Lion said,
"I need to nap when I return we'll eat him."
While he was gone, Fox ate the ass's brain.
When Lion saw this he prepared to beat him.
"Before you do,” said Fox, “let me explain.”
"For you to eat dumb brains would be a waste!"
And Lion wondered how smart brains would taste.

Ooh, Baby, You're A Fool To Try
A perfect fool, I claim the stage
well practiced in my fated role.
I throw tomatoes at the page
in hopes that I'll somehow cajole
some meaning from the random splash,
some accident I might control.
I churn my brain but still rehash
the same ideas that rise and swarm;
they taste the air then burn and crash.
I'll take a stab and try each form,
use kerosene and lighted match
to heat up what is just lukewarm.
My gift to you as spring chicks hatch:
You're not the worst poem in the batch.

RayofSunShine, Gee, I am just caught by surprise that you would write something like this, I am just so overwhelmed. Never saw this one coming :p
ella, Ah yes, when inspiration deserts, we look for solace in corsets. Are you going for a little waste training? (Hrrump, that sounds a bit of a shitty idea.) Oh dear, can I say shitty here, or do I have to ban myself?
Paul, what form is that, I don't have the energy to look it up. It does seem familiar, although I don't recall L1 and L3 being used so often, but the four lines at the end seem familiar. One of those little French ones isn't it?
Remember everyone this is a Merry Throng, not a Splint. Be sure to stretch and eat plenty of oatmeal, and drink at least one half gallon of wine a day!

Great start, JM.
I think you picked the perfect image for a pantoum and, even better is the image of a hovering dragonfly as Narcissus.

the good thing with napalm is that there's no good or bad, just participation.
and if you believe that you're a cock-knocker......
thanks for the chance to have some fun, there's no better reason for writing than to have fun.
