So I take it you are ok with the use of them on pregnant women depending on what they have done.
Tasers are normally used as a none lethal solution to aprehend people that have not been proven guilty of anything.
What about the unborn life inside?

I wouldn't taser a woman that's pregnant. Unless a taser was the only weapon I had to defend myself.

the unborn life inside will only get tased if the mother who carries it in the womb lacks the intelligence to surrender before she ends up getting tased. in which case, blame the mother's stupidity, not the person holding the taser.

LOL, I see your lack of respect for pregnant women and their unborn as a reflection of the deadening of the morels and values of society as a whole. For myself I find the use of this type of force against defenseless Pregnant women and unborn baby's sickening. Anyone carrying out such an act should be stripped of all authority to ever use this type of force again and imprisoned for attempted murder. JMO

If they have done nothing wrong, then they will not get tasered in the first place.

If the pregnant woman is holding a 9mm in a bank, she's not so defenceless.

If's and and's lol. Tasers do not get used in the course of an armed robbery. There is no argument that will convince me that tasering pregnant women is in any way a thing we need to do let alone pass a law to support. It is simply barbaric. We have cops tasering people for traffic violations.
High Mr sideways this is the sheriff calling. We stopped your wife today for speeding and she resisted arrest. We had to taser her and as a result she had a miscarriage. Sorry about that sir but it is against the law to speed and your pregnant wife was very threatening to us.
Don't make me laugh. The above sort of thing will happen and a law to allow it is simply an end run to support the law from being sued and going to prison.

a)How do you know it will happen??

b)Not many people (not even many policemen) would taser a pregnant woman at all. Especially for speeding. So what are you on about?

If it was not expected to happen then why was it addressed here?
The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday ruled that the Seattle Police Department’s use of a Taser on a pregnant woman, three times, to effect her arrest after she was stopped for a traffic violation, was not unconstitutionally excessive force.

A divided panel of the Court of Appeals concluded that Sergeant Steven L. Daman and officers Donald M. Jones and Juan M. Ornelas were entitled to qualified immunity from Malaika Brooks’ claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

In November 2004, Brooks said, she was seven months pregnant when Ornelas stopped her for speeding as she was driving her son to school. The ticket states that she was traveling at 32 miles per hour in a 20 mile per hour school zone.

According to Brooks’ version of events, Ornelas and Jones both asked her to sign a Notice of Infraction, but she refused, insisting that she had not been speeding.

Ornelas then called Daman. When he arrived, he asked Brooks to sign the notice and then instructed the officers to “[b]ook her,” when she again refused.

At this point, Brooks was in her car with the ignition running and her door shut and refused to exit her vehicle. Jones then showed Brooks his Taser, explaining that it would hurt “extremely bad” if applied and demonstrated it for her.

Really Bob. This happened because of a speeding ticket. Two full grown cops and one defenseless pregnant woman. You have to be kidding me. The only reason the one charge stuck is because of impending lawsuits. They must have really be in a situation that could not have been handled without the use of this type of force. Come on man, they were way way out of line. This type of thing will continue to happen. It will only get worse.

Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain joined Hall in her opinion, but Judge Marsha S. Berzon dissented.

“I fail utterly to comprehend how my colleagues are able to conclude that it was objectively reasonable to use any force against Brooks, let alone three activations of a Taser, in response to such a trivial offense,” Berzon said. “Obviously, the sensible reaction to [Brooks’] refusal to acknowledge the ticket in writing would have been to so note on the ticket and send her on her way.”

Hey Bob people do have rights man. I can see you don't agree but for this type of thing to be allowed to happen can not continue.
Further more she was never convicted of speeding or even charged with speeding.

Brooks was charged with violation of Seattle Municipal Code 11.59.090 for refusing to sign the notice and resisting arrest, but was only convicted of the first charge. She later filed suit against the officers for violation of her individual rights as well as assault and battery.

I tend to agree. Having know a fair number of pregnant women in my time here on earth lol, it has been my experience that they can indeed be hard to get along with, it comes with the whole being pregnant thing. Raging hormones and mood swings are very common.
Not signing that notice was well within her rights as I suspect they had no radar to prove she was speeding in the first place. Had they, then she would have been charged with speeding and paid a fine. Had she signed the notice she would have been admitting guilt.
I myself had the extreme displeasure of being cornered by 2 cops and forced to sign a notice that was an admission of guilt. This kind of behavior goes on all the time by the cops we pay to protect us.
I myself draw the line at using force of this type on pregnant women. What are we becoming as a society when we raise young people to believe that this type of behavior is right and just.

my take on tasers and pregnant women.

for the speeding offence. naw, they had two cops who could verify each others statement, they should have been able to tell the woman she'll be charged with speeding and send her on her way.
there must come a time though when force should be used. in this case a tazer wasn't the thing to use. they should have gone to her house at a later date and if needed arrest her. they could have blocked her car in if they had to arrest her and if needed sedate her with a docs order.

it's a hard one.

it;s like if a 14 year old gives you a slap should you hit him, personally i'd rip his fuckin head off.

as for pregnant women who pose a physical threat to another person or officer. use whatever means are needed to stop the threat. even if it means shooting her in the belly.
