James Dean was also born on the 8th of February but a completely different year of course. I was born in 1981. For a point of reference McCoy is my given, middle name and yes I have at least one interesting story related to having a middle surname.
I was steered into this community by "Crow", he is lovely by the way. I have not devoted much to writing poetry in recent years but I am working on a novel.
It has been suggested that this type of community would be good for me so here I am.
There you have it. My introduction and birthdays... lol

I was critiquing away and trying to do a good job, realized I was on the wrong site. Oh well, got my feet wet, might feel more comfortable now.
That's pretty funny, shame we couldn't read them. One down, two to go.

Hello new to all of this. I'm not sure how to critique other people's work but I am eager to see how others would critique mine. Hopeful

Welcome to the forum, Jacksdad.
Don't be put off by critiquing the work of others - you'll soon appreciate how to make your own input count and why it's necessary. Then you can apply what you learn to your own work and have yours looked at in return.
If you want to learn the art of poetry, and enjoy fun, this is the place to be.
A poet who can't make the language sing doesn't start. Hence the shortage of real poems amongst the global planktonic field of duds. - Clive James.

Hi, welcome to the Pen.
Try reading the Important Threads of Novice, critique is just specifically describing your reading of the piece, if you can write them I'm sure you can read them.
Hope you enjoy the site. ella

Hello poetry people
I am new to the forum and new to poetry.
I am a scientist seeking to keep in touch with my creative side. I've been thinking of writing poetry for a long time and have finally decided that the time is right to try and see what people think. Have left my first three critiques and I look forward to receiving feedback on any work that I post in the near future.
Catch you soon!
TJT.

Congratulations, you are now a member of the Pig Pen, a dubious honor at best.
Hope you enjoy the site.
