this one gave me so much grief... still not super happy with it but just want to be done with it. ;p

He sits cross-legged on the carpet
wide eyes glued to the TV
he’s entranced as the movie
dumps him into another world.

His eyes dance with Petri’s flight
voice laughs when Duckie stutters
brows furrow at Little Foot’s tears.
If only he could join them.

Sara has a bad attitude
his mother always tells him
so he can’t pay attention
when she stamps off in a huff.

This one is his favorite, and credits
never roll: rewind, repeat the show.
But he’s still proud of his collection
of all eighteen hundred versions.

and now I'm getting these all out of order, sorry! :[

He hunts a pirate foe; for truth he fights
from deep Bangallan jungle, he defends
the world. He's aided by his woodland friends
who never pick on him for wearing tights.

His ancestors were sailors, ninjas, knights --
among the pygmies he reached lofty heights.
No phony superhero myth transcends
the Ghost Who Walks.

Among the evildoers, he excites
a dread of this immortal who ignites
the loins of women everywhere and sends
men ring-collecting. Oh, who comprehends
this purple-panted man of masked delights:
the Ghost Who Walks.

Ah digging the Phantom... newspaper strip realism.

Hazel's Hex

She holds her hand
against the glass.
Before she gets
too much memory.
This game of numbers
chances so high to lose.

I hesitate
to call her name.
Deep humid night
sick wildflower smell.
Watch her knocking
across the Village Green
I feel a sinking inside.

Looked into her eyes
like a night move to hold her.
But that's not possible.
Frayed pitch
I must have thought I'd tried
but I stopped way short.

Her beauty is eternal
being weary and so wary.
Reconstruct my heart.
Or something like
revisionist memory
since it was nothing
but scrambled dogs and
chitter-chat.

Okay, that's not /exactly/ where I wanted that post, but I suspect I'll need to post a little more until I catch whatever I'm getting wrong here... C & C welcomed, of course.
