I’ve been listening to The Transfiguration of Vincent by M Ward lately. Beautiful album. Your poem reminds me of it.

M. Ward was in the duo, She and Him.

Yes. I haven’t listened to their music, though. Something about Zooey Deschanel freaks me out idk why. But! To tie it back to your poem - it has a blues musicality that matches with it, not just because of the subject matter. That’s why it made me think of that particular album. Specifically the song Sad, Sad Song. A sort of blues archetype (ars poetica almost but not quite)

Zooey Deschanel is also a huge part of my mythos.

For me, gods and monsters tend to appear in the form of celebrities.
