Ode to Chaps (sad but true)

Little banty rooster

flaunting feathers red and black

with waffles like a big boy

those who loved you called you Chaps.

You ruled at Sopotnick’s ,

you were different from the rest.

Crowing with dignity,

thrusting out your chest.

Some errant biker

laid you to rest-

leaving us to mourn,

having lost the very best.

We find a bit of comfort,

though your demise pains a lot,

knowing you weren’t served up

with some dumplings in a pot.






Sad and funny, excellent. I wasn't expecting that last line.
I posted a video of "little red rooster" on page 22 of the music video forum thingy, but only just realised the irony of a Mr. Howling Wolf singing about a rooster, it wasn't intentional, honest.
