DESPEDIDA --------- é um pouco sozinho
#1
Águas de Março

(Rains of March)

Is stick, is stone,

is end of the road,

rest of a stump,

is a little alone and

a shard of glass,

and life and sun

and night and death ....

--------

In a dead palace you want your lover to stay,

just like Neruda wrote

in his love sonnet.
**

Your tears are still raining.

With your very last cry still hanging in the air,

I still can feel you.

DESPEDIDA:
la pérdida del amor

[attachment=77]

É a garrafa de cana, o estilhaço na estrada ....

And a bottle of sugarcane brandy.
shrapnel on the road ....

and one right into my head

---------------------------
* composed by Chico Buarque

** quote: vive en mi ausencia como en una casa and the last line of this ode (Si Muero Sobreviveme) goes like this:

y si sufres, mi amor, me moriré otra vez.

And if - my love - you suffer I'll die once again

I am just in the process of reformatting this.
I am not expecting any feedback on the Portuguese (first part the quite dada-like lyrics by Tom Jobim, down to that line "sang Tom Jobim", second part by me.
Atrás da porta (title of a song by Chico Buarque).

I will go much farther with this curious thang, but I post it here only for the English lines (a backward translation of my lines in Portuguese (not 100 percent literal).

I am working on this and molest my fellow poets because pigpen is a workshop.
I want to make this so heartbreakingly sad even the most cynical ass will at least have wet eyes. you can imagine that there is the danger of risking it to get KITSCH-y.
I'll have to live with that bc this is about a real woman I really loved and who really killed herself. (Oh well and she really was the love of my life)
I will take the Portuguese part to a Portuguesa workshop of course. ;-)

tongueincheek
