Just wondering, is there anyone here that likes to play chess? =) If so, how frequent and what openings do you like to use?

I used to play chess with myself when I was locked up. I knew the rules, but never got very deep into strategy. I usually won when I played against others: but they didn't know the rules, so it wasn't really a fair game. I wanted to join a chess club or a wrestling team when I was a teenager, but no schools in my area had either. So I never got into it, though I had interest in it. I did wrestling elsewhere but I hurt people too much. I have a clumsy, reckless nervous system. It's frustrating though, because I really like chess. I like cards too.

Have you ever thought of playing online? =)

No. But I'd lose terribly.

Darn... Still, it doesn't hurt to try. Once you read up on some basic theory you should be faring quite decently on chess sites though.

Maybe. I do have some books on chess somewhere. I have a hard time with rote learning, or math and geometry, and anything with space dimensions. I'm not happy about that, and I've tried to find a way around it. That's one big reason why I couldn't get into it any more seriously. Neurological issues make it hard for me to look at things with my eyes without distortions. It's dumb, I know. But that pretty much wrecked my chess-playing. I have to put so much energy into walking and sitting and looking normal from the outside, that all the gears I'm pulling on the inside are pretty damn distracting.

But I'll think about that online chess stuff. I learned how to use the keyboard of a computer, and that annoyed me endlessly, and still does. So maybe.

I kinda do. I've won a few games, but it's not really been from being good at it. I've just got some kind of "Lucky sonofabitch" thing going for me in a lot of games.
I've played chess with one of my friends who is actually pretty smart, and probably got like a 2:3 win:lose ratio with him. And whenever I win he's always scratching his head, and I am too.
Won't be seeing you through the field of tears I left behind
