U.S. Troops Apologize For Wikileaks Massacre Video
#1
Two soldiers who were in the same company as the culprits featured in the infamous Wikileaks “Collateral Murder” video, which showed troops in Apache helicopters slaughtering Reuters cameramen and children while laughing about it, have apologized for the massacre while stating that the footage only begins to depict the suffering inflicted upon innocent Iraqis as a consequence of the occupation.

The Wikileaks video provoked an international firestorm earlier this month after it showed U.S. troops slaughtering over a dozen innocent people, including two Reuters employees and the father of two children who were trapped in a rescue vehicle that also came under fire.

The two children, Sajad Salah and his little sister Duaa Salah, survived but were badly wounded. One of the soldiers who wrote the letter of apology for the massacre, Ethan McCord, was the man who rescued the children from the van after his colleagues had finished bombarding it with gunfire, conscious of the fact that children were inside, while chuckling and making excuses for themselves.

I don't know if any of you here have seen this yet but there is a live video footage with this article in the link below.

while civilians will always be killed in military conflicts. what happen there was out and out murder. there was no justification, no reason to open fire. the people weren't running or trying to evade.
the soldiers in the chopper should get life. they asked and got permission to fire under false pretenses.

I saw no reason for it myself. Of course I am not a soldier and know little about the situation they were in. What I saw were civilians with cameras getting murdered. Then I saw some other civilians and two children get shot and by a very gung-ho and in a hurry to do so gunman in a high tech chopper. I saw no RPG or anything that came close to looking like one. They....at the time, being trained to spot people carring weapons with the view they had ( not a recording ) live I am sure had to know these people had cameras and not weapons.
In my opinion this was murder.
The video that GCJM linked to....this ex-soldier say's this type of and worse happens all the time and is why he left. Then go's on to, in reality, try to justify it by blameing the training and the way people are raised and schooled and what many believe to be acting out of patriotism. That is certainly true in my honest opinion but it is also true that in order for these soldiers to be sain they had to know they were murdering innocent unarmed civilians. The whole system needs to be overhauled IMO but the people in this, responsible for this, need to be tried for war crimes and made an example out of, every last stinking one of them.

Doesn't matter what they do now. They're dead, nothing is going to bring them back to life. Saying sorry is complementary and a must in these situations, but it does not make one iota of diference.

true but i think a message can and has been sent out that future engagements must be seen to be of a realistic danger and not an simple eagerness of some jock who want to just pull a trigger.
watching that film i couldn't see any reason to open fire.
three types of weapon were mentioned, were any recovered, certainly no one stole them, anyone entering the kill zone was put down.

because shit does happen in war it doesn't make it right. this wasn't right.
for me there are no excuses.
