Beauty
You’re just like a magic eye picture
You’re two dimensional and people look at you funny.

Beauty
I’m just like a magic eye picture
I’m two dimensional and people look at me funny.

Beauty
We’re not like magic eye pictures
We’re four dimensional and people look at us funny

Beauty
They’re just like magic eye pictures
They’re three dimensional and they can fuck off

i laughed at the last stanza. mainly because it brought the poem and me down to earth. and it was funny.
i think the title could have been put to better use, beauty squared or something that adds to the poem.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder and sometimes it's in the eye of beauty.
it lacks something but i'm not sure what it is, maybe quotation marks or italics, something that would help lift it a little higher.

thanks for the read

Hysterical

You gave me a good laugh. If I had a criticism it would be that overall it only made me laugh. The repetitive nature of the piece is a great setup for the 'punchline', but doesn't lend itself toward providing new images or facets to the piece. Or maybe I am just out of the loop and this is the key to finding the Templar's treasure . . . Big Grin

I am just telling you what I overthought about your poem Smile

Thanks for sharing Smile

hey rich
going to agree with billy; in a repetitive poem, the title can really be one your strongest weapons, and I'm not convinced your using it in the best way.

there is a play between being together and being isolated and the effects that does to people. however, whether due to length or the need of the 'form' to reuse ideas, I don't think that the big picture can be brought out any further. I'm not convinced about how i'm supposed to feel after reading this.
Written only for you to consider.

I think that each stanza is telling Beauty and yourself something. First a second-hand opinion about beauty in general; then about the speaker in general; then that beauty cannot be considered in general, nor can the speaker; and finally that those that disagree can have their opinions, but you won't let them spoil your experience with beauty. It's said in a matter of fact, cold manner, that shows you have little time to spend on small minded people that try to disparage you for little or no reason. But you did at least try to spend a little time considering them.

thanks rowens. you've pretty much summed it up. would just add the elevation to a feeling of superiority over the 3 dimensional when you are beautiful together. when you find that feeling the views of others pale into insignificance.
the last line is in there for the laugh and it is intended as comedy with meaning underneath.
