is set to start in another attempt to fathom the secrets of the universe.

do you think anything will come of it? will what they find benefit or help destroy mankind?

one of the main objectives is to find out why matter has mass.

any views. i'll state mine as the event horizon gets closer.

I'm very excited by the prospect of finding out what contributes to matters main property. It'll really be something.

That said, I don't think whatever they find will greatly benefit or destroy mankind any time soon. Maybe in the future, when our technology is more advanced and we can come up with more practical uses for the discoveries theoretical physicists are just making now. Will it be another "e=mc^2 leading to the invention of the atom bomb?" ... er, I hope not.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

i think w'ere at that stage where we'll take a huge leap in our understanding of the universal building blocks. it will be a while but i'm sure they'll be inventions because of what they find.

i'm sure something will come out of it .without expectations they wouldn't have spend so much money on this huge project.
for example,a really cheap and clean energy source?

who knows sj.

could be the gateway to all sorts of good/bad things. the possibilities are really astounding given time to decipher the data. imagine if we learnt how to actually create or generate a higs boson particle. imaging having a stable black hole to dump all our waste into? (i know it's far fetched but imagine)
