Rainbow 
Grey swells adorn the horizon and sprinkle lightly upon the earth
The roar of thunder is heard in the distance whilst I seek the crash of light
Alas, only the roar is heard
Cool are the drops that I grasp
Escaping though tightly clenched fingers as gravity has its way
East, west, north, and south there is no sight of blue
Ah, but the green! The green is seen
Lush and glorious
Intoxicating the nostrils with every breath
Eyes closed dismiss the unnatural sounds making way to silence undisturbed
Journeys need not be made via transport of the usual kind
Nay! My mind takes me where I choose
Light the skies oh nature's form
The bolts of the gods fly mighty
The land and sea take fancy to the storm
As life twirls about in ecstasy
Driven sideways, air has it way with water

Weary traveler, take thy time with thy hostess
Let she sup with thee
Thy cup emptied shall be filled tenfold
And thy plate engorged
Tis mine the fancy to fulfill thee
Where dost thou roam on lonely roads
Whose only avenue is a new fork or cross
Where dost decision play in thy mind?
To what end is thy journey?
Stay awhile
My hand wands and waves the quarters assuring the share
Shall the traveler raise his thoughts to speech?
Or does the road call more loudly?
To this comes the silent answer
Tis known that thy head is used to the full of a feather bed
But the warmth of straw and hearth does bear merit
My stew is not as hearty as fine spiced meats
Nor is my plate gold
But tender is mine hand and adoring is my offer
The finery of fools besieges me not
Nor does the foul smell nor pallor faces of the dead

Ah...some mistake here, surely. This is an accidental copying in of another poem, yes? It would appear to be about 1500 years too late and by someone else. I shall not crit it. Anyway, it is making me cringe sire, forsooth. Pray dost thow knowest the perpetrator of this lack lustre tale. Prithee advise, for I am fayne twere its an gelding or an lamb. And furthermore, I am an hairy man, forsooth.....oh, enough already. I need a drink from my holy grail.

Arachne by name.....but what a web you weave. You would be the only spider needing to trail a single thread to find your way back home. I am sorry if this criticism seems harsh, but I call it as I see it. Perhaps you would be just as brutally honest with one of my lowly efforts...after all, that is how we learn.

Welcome to the site! It's always good to see a new writer posting their work. Here are some comments for you within the lines:

How loud dost the wind call? How hard dost it push?--I feel like these compound questions on this line mean that you haven't settled upon the one perfect question that should stand here alone. I think you need to stetch yourself here and come up with more evocative questions
Dost thy heels bear wings?
Wilt thou ride Pegasus or attempt the acts of Icarus?--I wouldn't look to rely on the allusions as a substitute for coming up with more arresting questions
Let she sup with thee
Speak of thine own being
Let sound resonate in stories and create illusions drawn pretty with every stroke--The content of the stories and illusions could be drawn out here but as to the phrasing what does let sound resonate give you that simply "Let stories resonate..." would not?

But tender is mine hand and adoring is my offer--inverted syntax sounds awkward
The finery of fools besieges me not
Nor does the foul smell nor pallor faces of the dead--Again, I'd like to see you pare this down some
Graceful is my life dear traveler
Stay awhile
Tis naught of often thou hangs thy hat--hangs thy hat seems cliche and the of could likely be cut
The roaming of village to village--This is likely one too many uses of roam in the poem

What finds thee? What dost thou seek?--If you are going to have the one word line then you probably want to cut this line that doesn't add much, and go right into the stronger questions below
How loud dost the wind call? How hard dost it push?--I feel like these compound questions on this line mean that you haven't settled upon the one perfect question that should stand here alone. I think you need to stetch yourself here and come up with more evocative questions
Dost thy heels bear wings?
Wilt thou ride Pegasus or attempt the acts of Icarus?--I wouldn't look to rely on the allusions as a substitute for coming up with more arresting questions
Let she sup with thee
Speak of thine own being
Let sound resonate in stories and create illusions drawn pretty with every stroke--The content of the stories and illusions could be drawn out here but as to the phrasing what does let sound resonate give you that simply "Let stories resonate..." would not?
That elaborates upon the wag of the tongue--this is a busy way to say this

Todd, I apologize as I thought you had brought over the last person's critique. In reading what you had to say, I can say that I appreciate the time and patience you put into reading this work. My strange way of writing is not something I would change, however, I do like to know what others think about it. Being a fan of Shakespeare and being a romantic, this poem was brought about when I first met someone (you also picked up on the sexual aspect). You did pick up on the pagan overtones very well. The anarchistic part of me would not change a single word to please anyone as I write for self. I hope you do too as that is where pleasure comes from. Thank you once again and please accept my apology.

i supoose it can be classed as a poem in the archaic style but i'd have like to see it in the modern idiom. there are some beautiful lines in the piece specially in the latter half. i think a lot of the packing could be thinned away and still leave or add to the style. i see odd cliche but the setting of the piece renders any of them null because the language of the poem itself is cliche, not a bad thing if that;s the aim like this piece seems to be and all the better for not having more than a couple of them.
for some reason i got the impression it was about the sea and then changed my mind. i get an intense feel of lonely, of needing company or more. it's as though the 1st person needs others to live through them.

i think it can be tightened up with a smallish edit.

Howdy Billy! I use the word adorn as I picture the clouds as grey pearls in the sky. No sight of blue refers to the sky darkening and thus is no longer blue nor adorned with pearl like clouds. Despite the dark skies, I see the green forest which is reminiscent of the Jurassic Park scenario such like the woods of British Colombia. In April the weather can go from a massive snow storm while ten miles away it is raining.

Did you ever just sit back near a wooded area while tourists are blabbering, kids are crying, and cars and trucks are rolling by? In such a natural environment they seem unnatural and are thus dismissed for a more tranquil sound of silence or that of nature itself.

A journey not of the usual kind is journey which takes place in the mind. Using one’s mind as a transportation device, one is able to go where one wishes even if one wishes to go to the dark side of the moon for a cheese sandwich. Imagination allows for such.

Here is the low down. The guy I met was a polyamorous individual whom I met at Camp Naked (that is not the real name of the camp, but that is what goes on there), without the amorous i.e., a whore. He would bang this woman, that woman, here, there and everywhere.

Having come from the upper west side of Manhattan and having an enabling mother, the boy was materialistic and spoiled. With almost no pot to piss in of his own, he hooked up with Bessy the Cow types. They were all heffers and ugly ones too, but money talks. Do you get my drift? He would “F” the fat hoes and have them fall in love with him and he cared for them not. Actually, he still hangs with his ex “F” friend Double Feature Creature much to my amusement. The woman’s face could peel paint.

I am a tomboy type person and probably have more testosterone than he, so I don’t baby his butt. My anarchistic non-materialistic ways are a yin to his yang. I offer nothing but the basics...love and hard times. By the way, the villages are not villages, they are the women. Despite that fact that we are like night and day, we are approaching our 4th anniversary and he only strayed once and told me about it. After I made his life hell, he stopped doing that. He stayed awhile. Now isn’t that romantic?

In all honesty, I won't edit my work unless "I" see a problem. I write for self, BUT I am very open to criticism. Example, the word "wands" does not stand well and should be chucked out.

When I paint, do bead work, crochet, or anything for that matter, I do so to please self. To me, this is play/pleasure and in play/pleasure and nature there is not much room for correction as there are no mistakes.

Oooh, this one has rather epic themes to it.

I think the others already pointed out the most critical points of critique, so really I have hardly anything to add Tongue... only that since the POV (and the entire scene) clearly changes then perhaps the two parts should be delineated as part one and two of the poem or something. But I suppose that is just me being too strict Smile

Dost thy heels bear wings? Dost = does thou (sing)
Doth, or doeth, is probably the better choice as you are wanting to say, do your, not do you, so you are using it in a possessive sense, as well as a plural sense, as you are referring to "heels". Plus, stylistically "dost" seems to work better without a pronoun in most instances. Of course with all the overlapping usage there is no longer any set rule, but the ear still retains a sense if you grew up reading the KJV as I did (not by choice).

Just because there are no mistakes doesn't mean it is good, and not needful of correction. "Mary had a little Lamb" needs no correcting, but it generally is not what one strives for in poetry.
