They carried out an armed robbery on a 7-11 store. They shot a police officer multiple times while he was still in his car, hijacked a car at gun point, stole money from the car owner. They threw hand grenades and improvised explosives and fired at other police officers, then when they ran out of ammo, tried to use the car as a weapon.

Regardless of what their mother thinks, it doesn't really sound like they were innocent people who were set up.

Addressing the issue, I took the trouble to look at the video, and read the bizarre comments of people who are either viciously anti-American, and anti-Jewish, or American, and badly paranoid. It has no merit.

I also read the NYT comment article. The writer refers to a number of 'sting' operations, which have resulted in would-be terrorists being sent to clink. He discusses whether some of these operations are in fact entrapment, which is unlawful in Common Law countries. He says that entrapment is the usual defence put up in such cases, but that the courts tend not to allow it. Probably there are some innocent people in jail, as there have been since the first jail was built. As a non-American, who has, however, had a little to do with terrorism, my personal view is that it is one thing for a journalist who is stuck for material to put out such stuff, and quite another for the police/FBI/Security Services to actively prevent the kind of thing so recently seen--obviously, in the minds of some, the work of the government or little green men. They are the people who worry me, in any country.

As to Billy, the Site Owner, he may well be a dick -- he would say so himself -- but not because he doubts conspiracy theories of this sort. And because I am only addressing issues, I am precluded from comenting on the original poster; Leanne in stern mode, on the other hand, is quite another matter....
