I have no cups for drinking mead,
still, it keeps me not from bed, for I have peace grasped in my hand, a large peace too, to lead the van! It gives comfort so very nice, more so than Be'trice, that cockatrice, who squeezes me with wordy vice, and meanly too, to be precise!

I know naught of which thee spake
Get thee hence ye lowly serf Lest thy head roll and finds its rest 'neath verdant, fresh-dug, English turf. (man, that's a scary face!)

I'll never roll, nor take my stand,
on England's fair and pleasant land, for I am from across the pond, and here I'll stay to carry on! "(man, that's a scary face!) " One does not go into battle wearing a pretty dress, plus my usual avatar is apparently to large to get through the portal! Dale

Go into battle? Who are you fighting? Not me, I hope.
I'm a weak and feeble women worn down by life and bad luck I'm little and bent and toothless (' course I could give you a nasty suck) (I'm sure I am going to regret these words) Where are the mods? Shouldn't we have been reprimanded by now?

Go into battle...gird up ones loins, meet the problem head on, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Luck is difficult to rhyme. (buck, cluck, duck, f***, Huck, muck, pluck, puck, tuck, yuck) Yep, pretty much have to use suck as far as I can see! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Connotation is everything. In Spanish the word "chupa" can mean either suck or drink. El Presidente is an alcoholic beverage. How do you know Monica Lewinsky was an alcoholic? Ella chupa mas El Presidente! Dale

Well side-stepped....I was ashamed of myself for trying to lure you into slumdom especially as we've only just met. (I made that word up, you know - slumdom)
(very funny Spanish joke) Is that why the lollies my grandkids suck are called Chupa..I learn something new every day. What forum are we in?- oh yes, miscellaneous poetry. I'd better quickly get and post something. You too. bye

"Well side-stepped....I was ashamed of myself for trying to lure you into slumdom"
As the Eagles said, "You can't take me anywhere I don't already know how to go!" (slumdom) Perfectly good word that. Define: Metaphorically like a slum. (very funny Spanish joke) Is that why the lollies my grandkids suck are called Chupa..I learn something new every day. Yes, Mexicans seem to be somewhat remedial in that way. They appear to put things in these catchall categories somewhat more than we do in English. Of course we have the habit of calling a broad category by a brand name. Coke: to represent all sodas. Kleenex: equals all facial tissues. Dale
