Nostalgia

"Here's looking at you, kid"
Such sweet words from long ago.
"You know how to whistle, don't you?
Just pucker up your lips and blow"

I wish we still had films like this,
not ones that show it all.
Full frontal
writhing
on top of a bed,
instead of a firmly shut door.

I want black and white stories
with no bedroom scenes,
a shy glance beneath lowered lashes.
And Bogie's fedora
tipped back on his head
as Lauren reaches up for his kisses.

I wish I could give you the name of a contemporary film that matched the romance of Bogie and Bacall without tipping into cheesy melodrama, but I can't Smile Sadly, the art of the subtle hint seems to have been lost forever.

Though of all his movies, I actually liked The African Queen the best -- Kate wasn't as whiny as Lauren :p
It could be worse

was talking and showing addy an old film called robin and the 7 hoods, (i think)
frank sinatra , dean martin, s d junior etc were in it, the clip was mister booze.
and yes, they don't play it again sam, those were one off pieces of art and history, where a plot
was a plot.
thanks for the nostalgia Smile

The African Queen is one of our all-time favourite films - each time it appears on television we watch it.
(I'm also a sucker for James Stewart's It's a Wonderful Life' - but then I liked the Waltons........There is no hope for me)
