Is it proper

Hey, Leanne, I just did it, yeah, mudlinggle flemblancing to klinggacle.

Is that flemblancing a gerund or a present participle? :p

I did check 'miniscule' after my 'error' was pointed out and my little gummings said it was correct, but then it also said 'minuscule' was correct, too. Over to my huge International deluxe encyclopedic edition of Webster's Dictionary of the English Language and it said 'minuscule' was correct and told me about 'minuscule' and 'majuscule' and so I bowed to its superior knowledge.

Leanne - your insight into 'wrong' and 'wrongly' has been like gold-dust to me. I have always had to change sentences to avoid choosing between 'wrong/wrongly' - My instinct plumped for 'wrongly' (since I would never write/say - spelled incorrect.) but everyone else seemed happy with 'wrong'...hip, hip, hurray (I am made happy by such small things)

Hi, Ray (pleased to meetcha)

I must say I can't quite get the meaning of your nonsense sentence (yes, I know that sounds insane)
But, I reckon it should be 'Mudlinggle flemblancing is klinggacle' or 'Mudlinggle flemblancing makes you klinggacle'
what do you say?
bye, grannyjill

That depends on the context of klinggacle. It might be a place, you know, like school or church Smile

Currently it's a prescient participle that, being sentient, knows
it will become a future gerund.

Dear abu, I apologise, I accidentally deleted your most correct post which corrected my gerund supposition -- were I to correct Billy's "spelling", there would be gerundificity involved, however as "spelling mistakes" is the noun in toto, "spelling" in this case is nought but adjectival Smile

I do love prescience in a participle, provided it does not dangle.

All your participles indicate feminine? Alas, yet more gender chauvinism:
what's the world coming to...

Of course, why didn't I see that in the first place.

'And then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel,/ And shining morning face, CREEPING LIKE SNAIL, UNWILLINGLY TO SCHOOL

(what a lovely image - shining morning face!)

Deleted! In error! A likely - - - Am trying to make up my minf which of the emoticons comes nearest to "expostulates" "chokes on corn-flakes" or "has apoplectic fit". I think we are heading to-ward gerundicide....Wink

we can bring back deleted posts, but not if they've been erased from the page first Big Grin. gerundicity states that an immovable gerund and an unstoppable gerund should they collide will be ing inging all over the place before any given period.

Leanne suggested I stop lurking, so this was announcing to her I had.
Translation:
"mudlinggle flemblancing to klinggacle" =
"dummied dirty disarray dodderingly developing to disturbing drumming drivel"

Does one require a particular kind of clothing to flembance?

It's "flemblance" not "flembance". (Take a moment to use your spell-checker next time.)

No particular type of clothing is required, but some non-slip boat shoes (Sperry Topsiders, etc.) couldn't hurt: gets a bit slippery out there.

I saw that this thread was up to thirty-six posts and thought to myself, 'Self . . . well isn't that nice. A serious discussion is finally seeing the kind of post counts that the insane Sewer topics get.'

Then I saw the horrible Sewer-like activity going on here! You all should be ashamed of yourself :p

Hi rayheinrich what's up with the Courier font? Big Grin It makes my eyes hurt Sad

Ahem, excuse me, we're having a serious discussion about the mechanisms of grammar, thank you very much! To bring it back to topic, correct use of grammar gives readers clues/keys for meaning even if they aren't familiar with a particular word or phrase.

Incorrect: grammar is useless :p
