I'm leaving Windows behind . . . I've already decided. From what I have been reading for the past few months, I think a UNIX system is for me, but should I go with Linux or this newer Ubuntu? Do any of you guys use UNIX? If so, what flavor?

k. Thanx anyway, Billy. I think I'll run OpenSUSE on my spare desktop for a while before I switch permanently.

I've tried OpenBSD and OpenSUSE on my spare PC and mostly just find it hard to get good software for it. Everybody talks about how all the software for UNIX is free, but that's cause it's all low-grade shareware stuff. I had to get Wine just to run my Autodesk 3D Studio and stuff. Not exactly disappointed, but thinking it might not be for me.

How is the software selection on Mac otherwise? I mean I realize there won't be Word or Excel, but I mean in the 3rd party world. That's my only reservation about Apple. I already have an iPhone (and love it) and an iPod. If they made an iToilet I'd probably buy it, but when it comes to computers, I guess MS has me brain-washed too. It's really because I know quite a bit about the PC and nothing about the Mac.
