The value of poetry that rhymes
#1
Though I like writing free verse, there's something about rhyming that seems magical, even though rhyming may not be in vogue, still.
While writing and your going over possible words to rhyme with lines above, the process can bring about a word that is just what you wanted--or one you never (in your wildest dreams) expected, but which fills the bill completely and satisfies the theme you're working. Can anyone relate?

Rhyming is in vogue here, Steve. Form poetry, freeverse, nobody cares which -- it's all just poetry. (Though I confess to a not-very-secret preference for rhyme done well.)

Hi Steve,

Welcome!

I mostly write free verse, but have found that when I do have to conform to a meter or rhyme scheme it will sometimes push me toward some cool discoveries, things I never would have come up with otherwise.
