Why no canal between the flooded Midwest and the parched southwest?
Say from the Mississippi to San Diego?
When the snow melts every spring towns along the Mississippi are inundated with water that just flows into the Gulf of Mexico anyway.
What a great stimulus the building of it would be for the economy and it would actually benefit the whole country.
the grand union canal runs uphill, not sure if a canal would help the situation in the us.

engineering can solve all those problems.
doing so would create employment and possibly be greatest engineering feet ever accomplished.
if a tunnel couldn't be built under the rockies a massive pipe line could, which would be fed from certain points on the river.
as for water not running up hill; it can be made to using it;s own pressure. obviously not in this case though. for that you would incorperate massive locks. england is full of canals that are hight up. the panama canal also has huge locks.

right. and what better man than obama, if he proposed a project to shift high water to the right side of the mid west
he'd be hailed a hero. what's to stop then building a man made lake to house the excess from the Mississippi, use a pipe/canal system to fill it. imagine setting up a constant supply of irrigation for the area.

okay do it that way, bilud a lake where it's not so humid and transport the water from it by pipeline.
at least utilise the excess water
