Open the window and run
your paint through a sieve.
Paint the base flamingo:
velvet with potash, speckle blue.
Bathe and dress for brunch in Celestùn:
open toe linens, vertical stripe mimosas,
lavender cream.

Quite a picture. I was only aware of "distemper" as a washable medium used to paint "wrong" national insignia on aircraft during delivery flights.
But velvet finishes and vertical stripe mimosas... mmm. Tantalizing.

This read to me like an ekphrastic poem, very visual. The title throws me some as I know only one meaning of 'distemper', well, two but they are related and I'm having some trouble parsing. I looked up Celestun, which help bring the images together some. Nicely sparse.
Thanks for the read,
