Warehouse full of stimulants.

It? Blob? Thing?

Reentering the Job Market After the Layoff

Inside the Medicine Cabinet

whitening toothpaste, tube folded near the end
self-tanning cream with a copper stain on the lid
tube of breath mints, wrapper torn, partially used
Rogaine can with its aerosol cap gone
contact lens case with solution in one well
a flat tube of menthol analgesic balm
small blue pills in a blister pack, two missing
fragments of antacids settling in the bottle

Medicine cabinet, what do you hold?
Pills to cheer up, pills to go cold?
Pills to make sleepier, pills to make bold–
oh, give me some wonderful pills!

Medicine cabinet, what do you lack?
Syrup for coughing and my smoker’s hack?
Really strong downers, Narcan to come back–
give me pills to fix all of my ills!
