Can I get a clue?
Isn't it obvious? Hes the one blackmailing you.
Flames on the side of my face, breathing, heaving breaths...
How did you know that? Can you keep a secret? Yes. So can I.
I had to stop her screaming!
Flames on the side of my face, breathing, heaving breaths...
This is incredible! Not so incredible as what happened next!
I had to stop her screaming!
But look what happened to the cook!

Nobody. No body, that's what we mean. Mr. Boddy's body, it's gone.
But look what happened to the cook!
I am your singing telegram : )

Communism was just a red herring.

Oh, who ever it is, they gotta go away or they'll be killed!
Communism was just a red herring.
You all seem to be very anxious about something...

Go on. I'll be right behind you.

There Is No God and We Are His Prophets
The empty bus stops
doors crack open and close
a schedule becomes its own ritual.
Bug zapper humming
over frozen earth
a pattern does not require design.
Sweeping grit
under chlorine film
motion is not destiny.
Alarm ringing
beside overturned pills
we can only name the end.
The secret of poetry is cruelty.--Jon Anderson

"He was just totally Clueless!"
I mean, hello? That was a stop sign!
I totally paused, so what's your deal?
Like, this top is Alaïa: It's divine,
You can't just arrest a look this real!

Like, was that light even on red, though?
You can't just arrest a look this real!
I drive real safe, can't you let me go?

I had both hands on the wheel, mostly--
I drive real safe, can't you let me go?
This is sexist, I'm so not guilty!

Can't you just, like, write me a warning?

Don't you want confident women driving?
Can't you just, like, write me a warning?
I'm late for yoga and my Spa day!
Don't you want confident women driving?
My dad's a lawyer, he'll know what to say!

My first attempt at a pantoum, it was intimidating but once I hit my gimmick-- Cher Horrowitz trying to talk her way out of a traffic ticket-- it came together quite easily. Most of the lines are paraphrases of her most iconic lines from "Clueless": Anything that is weird, awkward, or does not scan is my own original work

Never mine
A theatrical massacre
Not in your name,
But made in love -
For you.
I saw the world burning.
To never consider
It could hurt you
Too.
To wound what you love,
Is to injure yourself.
In decimation,
I found salvation.
To crumble
At the horror of your blood,
Dripping -
Dripping down from your hand.
The world torn down,
Yet you remain.
A small cut,
My most ferocious pain;
Not even -
Mine.
This poem is based upon the following line: "I would have torn the world down for you". from a Tv show called The Penny Dreadful. (I hope TV shows are alright too)

Barabbas
Free to live the deaths that you took,
you people voted for Hubert Humphrey, and you killed Jesus.
God was some alien made of moist clay.
And you died his death into the cavern of
thought.
He broke free into history,
you died a man:
Death to you was others' crosses to bear.
You wore your thorns like a Raven,
not a scarecrow,
and lived out, full of dates and talents,
where he marked Cain for Lazarus
and the rest.

Centric
Once I was the center
of every thing–
lights’ blaze reflecting me
sun-bright or moon-glamorous,
cameras’ rapt eyes,
“Action!” demanded but
my acts commanding all.
It was not story within story,
play inside a play!
There was only ever one drama,
one world from epicenter
to its far, breathless
million-faced audience.
I am that center;
now is then, then is now.
I have acted, and
I’m ready for my close-up.

“Trainspotting”
The truth is, I’m a bad person
But I’m cleaning up and I’m moving on
Going straight before things worsen
I’ve had my fill and now I’m done.
I’m cleaning up and I’m moving on
Used to dive for pills in the loo
But I’ve had my fill and now I’m done
I want to be just like you.
No longer popping pills in the loo
A family, a child, a wife
I’m going to be just like you
I’m changing my rotten life.
No family, no child, no wife
Used to have more on the rob.
And the crown of my shitty life
A horrible dead-end job
Time to get back on the rob
Going crook fore things worsen
And quitting the boring fucking job
Cos truth is, I’m a bad person.
Beget, begone!
Begotten, I become.
