I am tired of poems that show

I am tired of poems that show, not sing
like a lyrebird or take to wing
like an eagle. Poems aren’t meant to show
the careworn furrows on an aged brow,
they’re meant to crow.

I am tired of poems that paint a scene.
Did Homer in his wide demesne
wield paint and brushes, sculpt a frieze?
The horns of war, the tambourine -
his verse was sung to all of these.

Do i understand, music with lyrics is Blasphemy, but poems should be musical lyrics?

That is true
In music, it is better not to understand the lyrics
Isn’t Die Zauberflote less delightful when you understand the banal songs?

Which of Wagner’s operas benefit from the human voice?

But poetry…is like pretzel day. I like pretzel day.
