Open Ending

Sometimes I wonder
what book I will be in the middle of when I die.
What characters will linger, their stories left untold?
What love I will never see passionately unfold?
Every reader will have that final story—
with the bookmark standing tall from the pages,
proclaiming its permanence.
An author's tale that will perish
alongside you.

I've read this poem like 3-4 times. Such a cool theme and concept. It reminds of that movie fanboys where a guy's dying wish is too see the newest star wars movie (only for it to be bad).

What does stand out is the bookmark.

You could rearrange and reinstall much of the poem
and play with how tall or how and on what random maybe page the bookmark is sunk in.
