this poem was written after clicking on this link and using the word which it chose randomly (in my case "painting") as inspiration: http://www.chapter19.com/inspiration/index.php

we stare at paintings of people all the time
especially if they're monsters
Genghis Kahn with blood down his bib
a modern art piece with Myra Hindley
composed from black and white children's handprints
or tragic souls like Princess Di
beside a message scrawled in red

really good write. though for me the last verse while asking questions doesn't really say much. the 1st verse for me is flippin excellent and is the poem complete in it's own right/write. the questions of the 2nd verse though good do have answers in abundance. jmo
thanks for the read, (the poem is perfect for the pictures )

for me the poem ends here,

what do we expect to find in the depictions
of these savages
these tortured
and torturing souls
which cannot be gleamed
from a history book
or newspaper article?

some good questions.

Looking back the second verse was written due to the knee jerk explanations of what my poems mean which I'm often tempted by. You're right, it doesn't add anything and I'll delete it in a mo. Thanks for the feedback and kind words Billy.

Thanks BillySmile Though "The Posey Butcher" does sound pretty awesome...
