Poor people park upon the street
because they’ve no garages.

Upper-middle-class and lower-uppers
park street-side because
their garages fill up
constantly with stuff.

Upper-uppers park
on the drive so everyone
can view and envy their exotics
(from outside the gate)
and their chauffeurs polish them
after each spot of rain.

Only lower-mids
and upper-lowers keep
cars in their garages
if they’ve got ‘em.

Hence the wave of auto theft
in states and cities which expel
their middle class.

An exercise in stereotypes?

I have two cars and park both on the street because my garage is built to 1950s specifications!!!

But weren't cars infamously huge back then?  You know, the Packard Pyramid  and Chrysler Colossus, or whatever.

Though it's true, modern SUVs are awfully tall:  I worry, raising the lift-gate when the garage door is open.  How did we get to be a nation obsessed with outback driving when so few of us actually live out there?  Maybe it's just the state of the roads...
