State of Origin

The dog wasn’t let with-out
one last time before bed
and though I pretended to be dead
his pleadings forced me
to take him a-walking at an hour
when the best of cops do cower
in the Land of the Free.
But this being Australia,
'tis safe from Justice Scalia
and the rampant idiocy
about guns and like matter
in the hands of mammalia
mad verily like an hatter.

So I took him out for a wee -
not Scalia, but my dog,
at an hour when the citizenry
is awash in grog,
and if guilty of the slightest bastardy,
like cheering for the wrong coloured team,
wearing a shirt too mustardy,
cerulean, or cream,
glass each other with VB
bottles, or those of our friend Jim Beam,
though in a pinch, a pint glass will do.
So when in NSW, cheer blue -
on this Queenslanders agree -
hiding the maroon jersey
will only do good for you.

Hello busker-

Interesting rhyme scheme you've got here, such as Australia/Scalia/mammalia, bastardy/mustardy.

This one certainly is of the fun variety. Play on!
