Senecio at the A&P

So many, so pretty
my mantra for the female half of the planet
though lately it’s rarely muttered,
a prayer that’s lost its power.

It’s an odd perspective
this view of an erotic desert
puberty erased by a flip of the wrist
of a simple mechanic.

Ah, but what a mechanic!
With few tools and less caution
he turns a glance into a paradise,
the promise of flesh.
 
I no longer see those glances
walk blind past their eyes.
There is now only a horizon
where a skeletal night waits.

The last strophe is nice, although I'm not sure 'skeletal night' is right. I am reminded of the Thomson twins and their accidental x-raying of themselves in Herge's 'Destination Moon'.

When I was younger, I was smitten mostly by women my age, or younger.  Now, as I get older, I find there that there are more beautiful women than ever. Age has also broadened my perspective to appreciate women for their inner beauty. 

With the 'wisdom of my years', I still conclude that all men are dogs- some good, some bad.  Woof!

Thanks.  I bought Tin-Tin for my kids.  May have to go see if they are still around.

It should be H.E.B.  But I thought A&P might be more recognizable.Also because I just watched White Noise and the grocery store scenes are stuck in my head.
