From Empty Night
the first light breaks.

Finally then
the birds begin,
the cat wants out,
the paper's in,
coffee perking,
door bell ringing-
simple noises
sound like singing.

Hi Mark,
Thank you. I enjoyed this one.  Pretty much sums up my mornings.  Except the door bell.  Anyone that rings my bell at that hour will be disappointed!  Sorry, no suggestions.
Take care,
steve

Very nice, evocative in simple ways.

Author's known dislike for titles:  addressed by making it an integral part of the first line.  Clever.

Equally clever, the progression from broken night (broken by daybreak) to more regular rhythm and prevailing end-rhyme - the day harmonizes and much, if not all, is in order.

Good on you, keeping the cat in (at night).  I thought I had neighbors' cats, but it turned out to be (volunteer) rabbits.  The thumping!  They, and the toads.
