Topic: Write a sermon directed specifically at Americans. What I've learned, looking at past NaPM threads, is that the "nation" in question, when it comes to National Poetry Month, is the USA xD

I asked the Holy Spirit
about whom I admittedly know little,
to give me some words
to teach a nation what God
says.  He didn’t respond
which is not surprising, so
I returned to the Grace of the Hippies,
my immediate ancestors
and opened the Tao Te Ching:
“Ever desire-less one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations.”
America, I say amen and dig it!

paper separates people,

through the eye of the needle

Today's sermon was supposed to be
preached by the Lord God Himself,
but someody (Agnes) failed to remember
that the Almighty is off today.

So, following His Holy Example
to take a breather on the 7th day,
we shall take observance of such,
and commence 30 minutes of shut eye.

Brother Jimmy will make sure that restless
kids don't fool around with the holy water,
and Sister Agnes will double-check
with the Lord for his next availablity.

With that, take some good rest, and God bless;
half of you were half asleep anyhow.

There's a grand tradition
of Jews giving promise
to America, redeeming
as Jesus tried with all humanity.

Jesus was a Jew. The Statue of Liberty,
when she spoke those fateful words
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..."
spoke with a Jewish mouth. And in the wilderness

of decaying billboards, collapsing towers, and half-buried UXOs
a Jewish tenor quietly intones
"Darling, never dream another
woman might have been your mother..."

But dreams are second nature
to you, America,
and hate an older
grander tradition. God save us all.
