In this brief moment,
I am even more powerless
against the howling
behind walls,
as their screams crescendo
hot tar
spurts out of me,
like a railgun.

Bungee
When you fall from bridges
with your faith in elastic;
bliss arrives unexpectedly
in the timeless moment
at the apex of the first bounce.
Let me come back as a rubber ball.

Anytime I step on stage,
I don't know how long I'll play,
but the rush is still the same.
And once the song is over,
the blood in my veins pumps strong,
all the brains systems turned on,
but I never reach that calm
that says the fun is finished.

Unwitting
You again
superimposing your face
upon my lover's
her stolen tongue
whispers something
that you might say
I play puppet awhile
till she goes to a place
I could never take her alone

But It Is
Mind is present.
Body revs, nerves accept, face glows,
mind is present–
thoughts in ecstasy, hot flood spent
body squirms, swells impassioned, grows
bucking denying body knows
mind is present.

Words
became seed
containing fruit
bearing seed,
and flowers
in a last springtime before their death,
those funny stout legged birds.
Then cranes
mating with a third one, death
coming as the hunter,
black, low born, cursed into remembrance.
Then words.

Visiting the Orthodox Chapel at Los Baños
The gate and the doors at the end of the road
were closed; standing before the lot
was the owner of the shanty
that predated the mission. Her sunken eyes
were filled with wonder, seeing
a pilgrim come visit. "The gate and the doors..."
But he was not defeated. At forty degrees Celsius,
down cramped streets haphazardly laid out
by the necessities of commerce and congress between
plywood and bare concrete and galvanized iron sheets
that sprang up after the devastation of the war,
and with eyes shooting looks that to his anxious soul
seemed vaguely hostile -- having turned back
only to begin again at least thrice -- he was simply relieved
it was there. "Oh, no worries.
I'm simply relieved..." And though he was breathless
and weighed down by sweat-drenched clothes on his return,
a gentle wind blew behind him. Providence pushed him on.

She had a crystal hanging over her bed.
She took me into her blonde arms
and showed me the Garden of Eden.
I woke at 3:33 a. m., a “sister of mercy”
sleeping at my side, forever after a sacred time.
Morning came, lovers parting at the street
that I did not know led away from that
sweet loss of innocence I’d never repeat.

Urging me
deeper
clutching
at hips
surging blood
flooding
our hearts
to our lips
quivering
pleasure
pulsing
together
immersed
in a kiss.
