A Calling

#1 IN CLOUD CALLING
read an ad that flashed by
on a monitor-screen side
and visions formed...

Clear blue sky, atop a clean-cut knoll
encircled at respectful distance by
politely-clapping golf-style fans
with perhaps a modest wind-sock
to assist in judging;

there a master stands, all clothed
in flowing pearl-gray robes
with regulation Aeolian harp
crying loudly and emotionally
for  SHA-ADE, SHA-ADE,
HERE-SHADE, COME-SHADE
SHADE-SHADE-SHAY-EEEED!

And for a few
true Number One cloud-callers
a little puffy cumulus or three
or a small plump rainy nimbus
drifts over that green tumulus
and stops

to be counted, measured
and appreciatively applauded.

The caller takes a bow
and the clouds no longer charmed
frisk away
whistling softly
searching for trees to scratch against.

Hey Duke-

I can appreciate the analogy to golf, even though I don't play it.  Sounds like somebody getting ready to make a game winning putt, but the sun is directly in the eyes, until a few clouds appear.  Since I've been transfixed by the NFL playoffs lately, everything seems like a sports analogy.

I especially liked the ending:
the clouds no longer charmed
frisk away
whistling softly
searching for trees to scratch against.

Hard for me to hear clouds whistling, but that's ok; maybe it's just me gettin older and harder of hearing.
((What?))

The other analogy
is to hog-calling, a very "country" sport indeed but also formalized in some regions.  The traditional call is "Soooeee!  Soooeee!  Pig-Pig-Pig-Pig!" but personal variations abound.  I neither golf nor hog-call.

HA ! I love it!

"Hog calling" that inspires the all new art of "cloud calling".

Fun fer sure, and I actually looked it up and learned something about hog calling.

I have a feeling that I'd be pretty good at cloud calling, or its opposite- "clear calling".

I think there should be farting contests, which my 6 brothers and I actually had as very young kids. Those, and toe fights. Damn near anything could be contested, and still be fun.
