In What We Trust
Buck, a bear of a dog,
spoke in animal language;
his paw in my hand
said his time was near.

I’ve read this several times. It’s beautiful.
I can’t quite place the “why”. Maybe it’s the hand in hand / paw in hand analogy.
Maybe it’s the tangibility of touch. He spoke through his paw. Touch remains after sight goes.

I never tire of reading about Buck. This 20 word version is one of the better installments. If I had one issue, it would be that the title is a little lost for anyone who hasn't read the earlier versions. Each has its own charm, but the title almost belongs to the original.

Hey Paul-
You may remember that I intended to attempt a 20 word version of this one. The title just got taken along for the ride. Though I think that it still holds up, I'm at a loss for another title.
