Endangered giants
#1
Emerging from caves deep in the ground,
the final surface invasion,
to end centuries of conflict.

Stomping the jelly out of them
and rampaging through the streets.
Giants fumbling people through their fingers to devour;
they scatter around like roaches.

Tides turn all too quickly.
No longer do they battle sword and arrow
but hot lead and missiles.
They all fall,
bellowing,
to the ground.

Thankfully,
people have pity for these creatures,
at least,
now that they are harmless to them.
So they erected an exhibit for them to frolic in.

This is no mercy to a giant:
being at the whim of their enemy.

Not a word of recourse is uttered to the humans,
so they marinate inside their cages.
You can still see them to this day,
If you pay a small fee.

I enjoyed your story here and after reading it a few times, am really feeling sorry for those giants.  No mercy indeed.
