No Recovery for Me

No Recovery for Me

"There anit no recovery for me, oh no"
I sang under my breath
biking, alongside Rainbow Dam.
A refrain tied to my chest.

"I'm not blind, delusions plague me"
I see things others cannot.
Remembering memories,
illuminated by thought.

"There anit no recovery for me, no."
because this is who I am.
Tried, bruised, broken,
then mended again.

"Trying to end stigma's reign on me"
believing friends eyes, who I trust.
compromising,
leaving behind illusions
that tell me I am worth less than dust.

"No war is over before it's begun."
I'll cover my eyes, and wax my ears
shield myself from my fears
drying the self afflicted tears
until its been 9 damn years.

Since I saw that man on a bridge,
with a bible telling me my life is a lie.
Since I saw a couple
staring through my shades.
Judging us pointing, open-eyed.
Even though my friend there didn't see them.
They're insecurities, illuminated by my mind.

I'm still here, I am still singing
"There anit no recovery for me"
because there's not.
I am not sick, or lost, or forgot.

"You are more then society sees"
because after every abstraction.
Every good and evil tug-a-war.
There is a person trying there best
to be themselves.

"I use to gasp, now I breathe"
brush the world off your sleeve.
You and I deserve to be free,
living life chasing dreams.

Bunx,

Really enjoy reading this one over and over.

I have one question:  the voice in quotes.  Is it overheard phrases?  Or the voice of the I? or something else?

So the quotes are lyrics I wrote like 9 years ago, it was an old song I wrote regarding reflecting how I felt about my Schizoaffective disorder at that time. It is a poem that serves at a response to how I felt during that period of my life. So glad to liked the poem TranquilityBase!

They are cool lyrics.  I imagined the writer sort of chanting them to himself, along with the other lyrics being just in his head.  I like this poem very much.  Is "anit" a particular slanng for "ain't" in American English?  The only other thing I was wondering is the significance of the 9 years in stanza 5 which I now understand.

Good work  Thumbsup
