Could it be

that the reason we don't get many new poets is the fact we give out honest feedback.

what makes a poet stay or leave a forum ( internal squabbling aside)
we have a third page rating if someone types in poetry forum. some good poets and some damn fin poetry so what could it be. anyone can reply to this post, poet or non poet.

Hi, Billy!
You know I'm newcomer. But why I got a thought that, well, I was mistaken when I got in here?
To my mind you too much looking for "remedy" instead of use what you have now. Feedback? Yes. It is. You know I'm a member not here only and I was amazed that, frankly, poem that got "nominations", that brought me points - here, well, second hand? Probably you are waiting for professional poets?
I know that not many members here - but why my poems without comments? Looks like you are not interesting to comment them. Rep. points cost you money?
No need to "run" and comment, but for what one is writing? To hear "silence" or to hear that one is a chump in poetry?
Okay, Billy, you asked I said.
Best regards, R.Y.

i'm confused a litte Ris. the rep points i gave were because you posted.
i actually think i've commented on almost every poem that has been posted here. i can't always respond to a poem straight away because sometimes i'm not physically at the computer or I have to work of other things. in truth I would like to see poets of all levels posting their works here. i not ice you have poems waiting for a reply now, sadly i have to get my breakfast, and do mundane things such as shopping and paying bills. one of the reasons a poem can go without a comment here is because we are still few in number.
another reason is that you're a prolific poster of poetry and replying to 4, 5, or six poems at once takes a little time. (if you notice, i seldom just write; "nice poem"
back to rep points. please ignore the rep point thing Ris. don't measure anyone by their rep points. they mean little except maybe to show a thank you etc. take a look at mine.
i've removed most of them. the ones i left i feel i earned in one way or another. i will reply to your poem later, and i am grateful for every poem posted on the site by anyone and everyone.

thanks for the reply Ris.

yes,i would think that a poet who posted on a site and got good feedback would like to post his poem on as many sites possible, affter all you can just copy it

i think most poets have two or three sites they use.
i post on two sometimes three, including here. i do it in order to get new members. sadly i haven't had time to post in the three recently.

getting honest feedback gives us a thicker skin.
and it's okay for anyone to give honest feedback without being nasty.
you're more than welcome to say what you think about anything i do vf, anyone is. (as long as it's about the poem
and not about me Wink )
