China China Ocean Liner

—You'd forget your own name if it weren't sewn into your underwear, Mother said.

Then I forgot my name.

So, I let them give me a new one.
It was like the old one but with some numbers after it

and it was eternal—
till the earth crashed into the sun,
it was my name.

I liked a song
and that's my name.

I sang along
and that's my name.

I loved a girl
and that's my name.

She did a twirl
and that's my name.

I loved some more
and that's my name.

I went to war
and that's my name.

I hated work
and that's my name.

I liked it too
and that's my name.

I drank too much
and that's my name.

I drank too few
and that's my name.

I knocked him down
and that's my name.

I helped him up
and that's my name.

I'm double guilty,
half to blame,
and when I think I've gone insane
they wake me up and start again.

Needs the accompanying guitar though
There’s a provision for that if you’re musically inclined

Ha, true! I don't really like anything about this poem—the title's pretty funny though—but maybe setting it to some weird Derek Bailey atonal avant-garde guitar crossed with a bit of electronic vapourwave could do the trick.
