Time Travel: Onboarding and Initiation
Only those who stood within the shift
remember. You weren't there
and still believe this power will free us.
We wanted to be like God. We wanted
to be better. It wasn't enough.
Our arms spread out within spacetime
above the bright dome of creation. The tapestry
of moments unfurled into a path to walk.
It seemed evil to resist the temptation
to pluck a thread. We started with Hitler.
He is now dust and less than dust—forgotten,
and you can't understand. So, forgive us
for not encouraging you to overthrow
the Solidarity of Australia to stop Rupert Murdoch
from being born. It is as fruitless
as the barren wasteland of Europe. So, no,
you can't pull the threads. You cannot
kill your Grandfather. It was all in the orientation.

Of The Late Coronation
How doth the King? What King you ask?
Why HENRY! Why take me to task?
If of that name the bloody FOURTH
The one who stole his kingly Crown
Or FIFTH who fought for all his worth
Until the French pox struck him down
The feeble SIXTH who lost his sense
Or SEVENTH always pinching pence?
Or mean you EIGHTH the lecher-man
Who scorned GOD shuffling his leman?
They all be dead and gone to HELL
May good QUEEN MARY rule us well!

Just to say a big thank you to Todd and Duke for the consistent quality of your writing, I look forward to reading your contribution each day and you always deliver. This is one of my favorite days.
keeping your body safe
I run a soft silver brush
through your thinning hair,
you can see us in the mirror
but only a body sits so still.
Often I can catch the corner
of a smile and wonder where
you have traveled to, what year
what style, the latest fad?
We have so many fragments.
I can tell by your hands
when you are dancing,
they shape the closing notes
of a full orchestral score
falling beyond the deaf composer.
Next time you come back,
bringing that smile and soft hand
to my cheek, I want to know
how you do it, so I may join you,
find a walk on part in your scene.
And if this is to be the last separation,
then I hope you're in a perfect place
where you can leave a trace, a marker
for me to follow, the slightest echo.
I have no plans to wait.
If your undies fer you've been smoking through em, don't peg em out

Bound to say I'm inspired and humbled by the quality of others' contributions here... compared to which my own seem mostly rushed and pedestrian.
Keeps me off the street, though.
