 Economides Finds

Muscle, soft tissue, with no warning 
abruptly turns to permanent new bone– 
freezes in place jaws, shoulders, 
rib cages. A lone assassin, single 
molecule pulls the trigger – FOP!

Merry Maids of nineteen dancing
to Pipers of two – we reverse our 
punitive judgments, from afar we 
reconsider at the historical and
molecular level,  to find sympathy 
now, in our hearts of stone.

Universe

Stars are supposed to have meaning,
the same as eyes caught staring too long,
back when I had a reason to blush,
but light-years are a measure of distance,
not time.
It reminds me of that summer night
he never woke up from;
TV still on, even after the police left,
can't remember what the damn show was,
still playing to his empty coach,
just that the screen lit up
our living room with the palest grey,
like moonlight without a moon.

Reluctance


He was not, at first, averse
to what others found perverse:
Isaac Newton’s universe
(mass and light that don’t converse)
wasn’t true– quite the reverse–
they’re identical, diverse
vibratory forms, inverse,
rhymes in alternating verse.

(But he loosed a diatribe
when his colleagues dared describe
random quanta, all the same:
dice cast in a godly game.
But as member of the tribe
he’d no choice but to imbibe
what their numbers said was true
though it put his nose askew.)

„Nine!  Nine!  Nine!” he cried, but he was speaking German...

The universe is not expanding.
Infinite: is
Everything inside steadily
Shrinking.
On a massive scale of relativity,
We only
Observe the growing distance
Together.

No! It's the reverse
not in a moonwalk kind of verse
It's in the back shoe shuffle
and with it that kerfuffle.


raise the heel and slide the toe
"oh look mum, there's that stupid Joe."
As I back up across the street
to give the mums and kids a treat.

I also like to play the comb
while backing up on my way home.
It gives me lots of time to ponder
as little people stare in wonder

For my verse is written for thee,
who art so beautiful, and curiously unclothed,
disporting nakedly, in the groves of Athena.
But alas! the minions of Pan have bitten thee,
and thou, who wert most recently betrothed
to the shepherds (note the plural) of bright and sunny MENA
art left abandoned by the side of the road.
O, how hast thou whored!
With the Satyr god Priapus,
the banker Nick Pappas,
and all his wanker trader friends, who are easily bored....

something i was stuck on the past....since around the 11th

Sever the sere
slopes that serve
your father's giblets,
flay his legs

and veer off the path
you followed in your childhood,
fitting your soles
in his deeply set steps,

to grow gold, my dear
superstar severe.
