What's the difference

What is the difference between poetry and magic, poetry and religion, primitive and classical, romantic and modern, modern and postmodern, chaos and post chaos. . . . Is there? Let's poetry and argue out of it.

Nah, nothing to argue for me, sorry. For me they are all ways humans pass the time, some gently and some in a state of agitation. The differences are minor.

Do you not think it's worth learning about these key terms I memtioned. If not to write a poetry, at least to act out a Marx Brothers movie concerning. My whole life is a Marx Brothers movie.

Or are you saying, these are all themes for a minor poet? And what is the DIFFERENCE between a major poet and a minor poet? Do they have such distinctions in Australia or Canada?

rowens, you read too much into my nothing. All I'm saying is all human endeavors are on some level equal. I prefer what eases pain but it's clear we don't all feel the same.

Is poetry magical or religious? Could be, it can touch the kernel of good and evil within us and it sure has plenty of rules that can possibly lead to the ability to transcend them.

The rest of your classifications, sure, all those things. And chaos, sure, that too. Just saying I can't argue it when all is all.

I spend a good deal of my time explaining things. I'm trying to get away from it. Everything I say is joke, and I get spiritual rapture out of it. I got in trouble for so long, people thinking I'm crazy, that I got into the habit of neurotically explaining myself. Now I no longer can stand to be neurotic. I was better when I was young and crazy. Since I've been behaving nonsensical without explanation again, people have been commenting on how youthful I look. And women haue been coming around. Note for men: Women would rather you be foolish than explicit. . . . I'm both. People marvel endlessly at how intelligently and elegantly I express my stupidity and my uncouthness.

they're all chalk and cheeses. while one or more of your list can incorporate one, more, or all of the others they are all separate entities.

i think the two main ones are poetry and magic. i say this as poetry can be about any or all of your list but magic is is also a quality poetry can be magic and not just be about magic. for me carrolls nonsense poetry was often imbued with magic. as were a few of the sonnets {she walks in beauty}

uhm, well all the differences you listed are self evident if you compare the definitions. To me it seems more logical to discuss differences in similar things, or the similarities in different things.

poetry vs magic is interesting though, because they seem to be complimentary in pieces that really speak to you, I suppose you would call that "the magic of poetry".

some pieces capture a quality of life that wouldn't otherwise be known to the reader unless the poet wrote it into existence. That is when the magic of life becomes apparent; recognizing something that seems removed from everyday life.
assholery not intended .

Maybe I should've said so, but I was thinking of William Blake and Imagination. How that trumps magic. Though imagination and magic come from the same root. But William Blake is just so convincing. It's a pity that you have to go beyond him to get anything done.
