Poor girl,
must have stared at her phone
two hours or more 
before the time struck now or never,

"Are you on your way yet, babe?"

and me,
starving,
not yet outta bed,
acutely hungover
and freezing...

"Just back from chopping wood at Dad's, babe.
Call you when I'm leaving."

She couldn't possibly know
he'd converted to gas
but I better get my ass in the shower

right after I eat.

Lovely little vignette, nicely constructed with the short verses in the middle.

In olden times this would be sort of epistolary - is there a word for stories constructed from text messages or answering-machine snippets?  Tweetary?  Textic (txtic)?  Cellary?  "Telegraphic" and "phon(e)y" are taken...
