Winona Ryder (Slight Return)

Winona Ryder (Slight Return)

Winona Ryder points to a closer
deeper impulse in me
that animates my soul—
discretely rearranging magic
made of Hammer Horror flicks
and 90s hippies dressed in black.
The horizon moans.
The road hollers back,
and finds Winona kneeling in the grass,
half awake and dreaming
of some secret clocks,
electronic dogs,
and the frightened beasts that feed them.
Then, just before all hell breaks loose,
and devils scull the sunshine,
she lights the fuse
on all the world’s unexploded fireworks of joy.

Great stuff, fun to read.

I remember when Winona Ryder took the stand in the early 2000's, I think the stand is still missing.

Awww, that was sweet!
I hope she reads it someday.
She is a beautiful lady.
Such a poem of lovely admiration!
there's always a better reason to love

If you started with half awake and dreaming and left the rest and ended with her name, it would be a hakoo. /// W. Ryder morphed into Christina Ricci in 1998. They've been sharing the same body e/s. That's why Christina Ricca has such a short ride. Start right where I said and she'll like it. Shell. My friend, Greg, met her in a store one time in New York around 2003. Say Winona and start from there . . . and see if everyone don't know who you're talking about. It's not Wynona Judd.

I call the 90s the Gothic 60s, and hippies dressed in black are partly what I'm talking about.

I'm serious, but, I admit, Jordan Catalano sits on my right shoulder.

buffalo ‘66 is the only decent film i’ve seen Christina Ricci in. she’s the poor man’s Winona Ryder.

Johnny Depp the Vampire. He drained Heather Lankencamp before the '90s hit. My theory is John Depp is Dracula, Bruce Springsteen is van Helsing. Plant them together and see who feeds or who grows. Winona Ryder dated that guy from Bright Eyes too. Brown Eyed vampires, if only they weren't so talented.

I've always defended Winona Ryder. Most people I know don't know who she is. The others don't like her because they say she's too pretentious. I avoid people who use the word 'pretentious'. They almost convince me that Winona Ryder is pretentious. It seems somehow so obvious. But if I think about it, I really don't know what they're talking about. And I really don't care. They just seem so intensely sure of their judgment of Winona Ryder. Though I don't think they really know who she is either. Who was the real star of Girl, Interrupted? It wasn't Angelina Jolie. The girls I know, knew, who were all into Girl, Interrupted were outraged at Winona Ryder's pretentiousness in that movie.

I knew a girl, her favorite movie was Girl, Interrupted. And every time she made me watch it with her, when it got to that part where Winona Ryder got that guitar and started singing ''Downtown'', her water almost broke in rage. She couldn't stand that song ''Downtown'' because of Winona Ryder singing it in that movie. She reacted as if Winona Ryder had fucked her boyfriend or something. And when I was around her friends they all reacted the same. She wouldn't even watch Almost Famous with me because Winona Ryder was in it, even though Winona Ryder wasn't in that.

i can barely remember girl interrupted, and i think i’ve seen it more than twice. like a charmless version of one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. regardless, entirely unmemorable. and angelina jolie is possibly the most uninteresting actress alive—or that has ever been alive.
winona ryder’s okay. she reminds me of someone i know. she’s been in a couple of good films. “beatle juice” and “edward scissor hands” obviously, and “night on earth” and “heathers”.
i liked the idea of only writing poems about winona ryder for a whole month. it sounded funny in my head; but, my ambition exceeded my reach and i got bored of it after 3 poems.
