I don't have anything in particular to say, so I'm hoping someone else would actually spark this discussion. I do remember something about Milton supporting tyranny, albeit tyranny of the masses. Also, if anyone's got any enlightening examples -- the poetry of Stalin, Mao, and Khomeini sound particularly engaging.

IOW - no current critic would dare call Hitler brilliantly original in verse just as, had Hitler been victorious, none would dare call him woefully pedestrian.
