malign

the crown of creation is in constant progress
to the self-justified climax of darwins law.
we´re extending ourselves over everything else
but our cells are coherent no more.

this proliferation of malign derivation
has negated its limits, so destiny´s set.
the granulocytes can´t raise revolution,
as the cancer is hidden, so it will spread.

deforming, abusing, for evermore gain,
the bleeding body consumes its own life
to spawn little daughters that join in the game.
we never know why we all fight to survive!

radical growth has a dark prognosis,
suffocation in blood and toxic urine.
nature´s cure would have been apoptosis,
we´re on life support and we serve machine.

Intriguing poem and title - cancers can be malignant, but only individuals having the knowledge of good and evil can be malign.  Discussing humanity as a whole tends to deny agency, which in turn rationalizes malignancy (as in social Darwinism, which has had - so far as I can recollect - uniformly bad outcomes).

What do our genes (including the famous selfish ones) intend?  Well, nothing:  they don't intend, or dream, or conquer or even act altruistically - they can only gene; what they do is what they are, and vice versa.  Maddening, isn't it?

Another idea that might bear on this is the concept of macroparasites - examples of which are governments, armies, economies, war, slavery, sort of thing.   Some of them have (or can have) what people of good will would call beneficial results for individuals, but the concepts only do what they are:  armies army, governments govern, economies economick, and slavery enslaves.

Liked it!  Food for thought.
