The Nutritionist

"Well Mister Tisdale"

"Yes Ms. Richter?"

I responded in a cordial way except I put a German accent on her name. It made me chuckle inside. I thought, well one must get ones jollies where he can. Then I paused, was that my thought or Dan Ray Van Lowe's. It had come as quite a shock when at my therapist's appointment I learned I had never had an original thought and in fact, I was just a conglomeration of other people's thoughts. I had heard that a good therapy session oftentimes takes weeks to get over, well this must have been a good one, as I might never get over it.

"So," she responded steepling her fingers under her chin as though she were a detective in the middle of an investigation.

"So," I said in a, "You're not going to find the body in my backyard" voice.

"What have you been eating for breakfast?"

I responded offhandedly, "Coffee."

"Coffee?" Her voice appeared to go up half an octave on the second syllable.
"All you have for breakfast is just coffee."

"Just coffee?" I say, "Madame, men have fought wars and died over 'just coffee'!"

"Well you may just go to an early grave because of just coffee."

She was really percolating now.

"There is more to life than dying", I said

Just then the chime on her desk went off.

"I don't see how anyone can expect me to do anything in just fifteen minute."

I said, "They don't, it just looks good for propaganda, you are just a cog in a machine to keep the populace quite."

The orderlies knocked at the door.

I stood, clicked my heels together, stuck out my arm and said, "Hail Richter"!

As the orderlies came in, my arm dropped quickly to my sides and I allowed them to lead me docilely back to my hospital room…nutritionist!

PS

I did fire my therapist. I had only gotten one because a girl I was seeing was seeing one and wanted me to see one too. I figured if no one has an original thought in his head, then this therapist brought nothing new to the table, so what was the point? I feel much better now. It cost me the girl, but her act was wearing thin anyway.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Ha, with most people you actually can do a lot in fifteen minutes if you learn how to ask the questions to get a useful response, don't waste time on judgement and give the person information they can use today. I think she's just not very good at her job. Smile

ellamyfellow,

Nobody ever died for, or for the lack of, or because of a nutritionist. I've never known a nutritionist to pick you up or give you a jolt in the morning...of course I have never been married to or dated one. I'd rather pay money for a cup of coffee than the fee of a nutritionist. Of course you sort of missed the subtext, so maybe this needs work. Sad

Well, it's a good depiction of someone just going through the mandatory motions, which I think most do in that situation, all the voices just say wahwahwah.

And I like the whole analysis of analysis, suits me, I'm not too concerned why am I who I am, just dealing with it. Big Grin

of course in an advanced society there´s a need for nutritionists. and formulated diets in many flavors. and adipositas surgery.

but the poor woman certainly didn´t deserve an anticapitalist lesson combined with a wehrmacht-imitation. or did i miss a hidden metaphor Wink ?
