Sugar Sigh

Sugar Sigh

I love the little sigh it makes
no splash, just tiny gurgle-giggle
bubbly digestive noise
not like the full deep rumble
of an empty stomach nor
that swirly plumbing sound
of a full one

when I drop the sugar cube
into hot coffee
first cup of the day
it sighs, forced string-cut
edge and faces, corseted
by incomplete, unnatural
uncrystal misalignments
all relax

like the first real gulp
of wine after a show of tasting
in the evening or
full-body plunge into the swimming-hole
after pointless testing
water with a toe
even just a bit anticipating
the groan of satisfaction
on the stool
after a good
productive movement

or as it is
shared sigh in that first hot
stimulating tension-dissolving
cup of the morning.
Love ya, cubie.  Bye!

Another Sunday breakfast poem.

Big Grin Makes me want to get cubes, and has me thinking of all sorts of cubes. I just read dale's buddha icecream, now this. And tho I don't go for dessert too often today I had little zeppolis so hot the sugar melted into a sticky glaze, perfect. Sweet day.

Fantastic stuff. But please change to 'tea' from 'coffee' unless you want to displease the gods.

Glad this was (mostly) enjoyed.

@ellajam - Must try to learn the art of drinking coffee through a sugar cube, Middle East-style.  Sounds like fun.

@Achebe - Don't be absurd.  If coffee roused the gods' ire, Neptune would have sunk every ship insured by Lloyd's original "kauphy" house long before it moved into larger quarters and acquired the Lutine bell   Big Grin  .

@lizziep - Much obliged, but I mst stop writing about these commonplace things and pick a more globally significant topic!

I've never been able to write well about anything significant.

I'm sure you'll do us proud Big Grin
