An Earned Century Burns Into Silence

Nicky boots the door like his life's despair howls above the paranoia;
I light a tear of crack that rides the saddled back of a coke can,
and I'm over that, now.
I'm a combustion engine blowing smoke, running pistons of pure sensation,
dribbling over a deep penknifed heart of a love more permanent than marker.
—Oi! You all right?
Nicky's his own narcotic, so he can kick fuck out the door all he likes,
I'm not letting him in.

This love's not multiplying
it's singular,
selfish,
and disconnected.

I don't know if I'd call this fun, but whatever. I like the style you write in. It holds my attention.

Yep Shem it's brilliant writing. Reminds me of another one you wrote and the last line was something about industrial strength christmas decorations strobing across the sky or similar.

Anyway... write another one  Thumbsup

thanks for reading!

[i must confess, the connection between the two poems is undeniable, yet, entirely coincidental. i wish i could take credit for the theme, but i am going to have to give that one to serendipity.]

I'm with Todd, forsure. I mean, this experience just ain't fun...BUT, I will say this; most people gotta love something enough to change, and that love can sober addiction.

yes, i suppose this isn't the correct forum for this one, Todd was right [as he usually is]. it is a bit grim to be in ' for fun'. i think  my reason for posting it here was simply that it was actually fun to write. or, at least, i enjoyed writing it - but also, i do think there is a certain black humour to it. thanks for reading!

Hey, what's not fun about battling addiction? You have to maintain a sense of humour along with your habit, really, especially when you've lost your friends, your health, your teeth ... OK, so it's bit noir, but it sits better with me than the other night terrors I read about here tonight.

Some poems are fun to write even if the content is shadowed, and after reading your reply I can pick up on the humor or fun in the write from the very first line.

Good work
